2009 Connecticut State Fencing Championships
The Connecticut State Individual Championships at the Hopkins School were a huge success with nearly 200 fencers participating. Coach Hank Powell, Paul Luciano (Bout Committee) and Jim Harris (Chief Referee) put together a fine tournament. It seemed as if everyone enjoyed the day. Next week we are onto East Lyme High School for the Connecticut State Team Championships.

Commentary and/or posts are to be well intentioned and respectful. This is not a place to cause pain or grief, but rather give national prominence to our athletes and sport.
We at Proprintwear are proud of our association with the sport of fencing. Our owner was first a Fencer, secondly a National Referee and now a business owner committed to furthering the image of fencing.

2009 Connecticut H.S. Fencing Team State Championships
ReplyDeleteEast Lyme High School
East Lyme, CT
This year’s host was East Lyme High School Coach Colleen Gebhard and the tournament functioned extremely well. Her efforts and that of her team resulted in a wonderfully enjoyable day for those in attendance. It was a spirited encounter with fencers, parents and fans alike cheering to the end. Jim Harris of ICONN Fencing was another significant reason for the day’s events lending his fencing expertise.

If you were not satisfied with your result and/or you wish to remain atop the best of the best you would be wise to consider fencing at your local club. Here you will develop lifelong friends while perfecting your technical expertise.
how come there is no saber?
ReplyDeleteExcellent Question:
ReplyDelete.
Connecticut does not currently fence Saber at the High School Level. In fact many High School Programs started with Foil and then added Epee. Only a few states offer High School Fencing Teams with competitive Saber. It is our hope that by advertising the programs around the country schools will consider expanding their programs.
please can you offer saber fencing at the high school level. what do we have to do to get saber into the program.
ReplyDeleteMaestro, Nice job bringng light upon the sport of fencing. Unfortunately some schools are not sanctioned by the ECC because they are only considered a club. Unfortunately they can't even get their names in the newspapers even though they beat some of the ECC sanctioned teams Waterford and Bacon Academy are two that I know of not sanctioned. Also Bacon is in Colchester. You have it listed as being in Groton on yourlist. Thanks for your work, regardless.
